the photographer
Photography has always been a part of me. As a kid, I remember spending my allowance on film in a time before digital. By high school, after taking a black-and-white photography class, I was hooked. But when my mom said photography couldn’t be a career, I set it aside, but I kept on shooting.
Along the way, I learned the power of capturing memories, especially growing up in a home full of change. My parents took in foster kids, and I quickly learned that things could be here one day and gone the next. From the time I was 5 until I left for college, I had 27 siblings that came and went. Goodbyes weren’t easy for me, so I clung to memories in the form of photos—moments that reminded me of the people who passed through my life, no matter how briefly. Those photos became something to hold onto—more than just images, they captured feelings, preserving not just what I looked like but how I felt at the time. They gave me a sense of permanence in a life that was always changing.
As a military spouse and mom who has had to give up my original career for my husband and our family, photography helped me process life and change, preserve memories, and find my creative voice. Now, I use what I’ve learned to help other families tell their stories, capturing their love, connections, and the moments that make life meaningful.
My family now includes my husband and I and our two sons (8 & 1, and an angel baby in-between)
Is to provide
an experience that feels effortless and personal while delivering quality and creative images that reflect your family’s love, connection, and unique story.
My goal is always to create a memory, or a feeling, that will spark emotion in the viewer. I love the challenge of capturing people’s personalities into a still photo. I’m a naturally shy person, and I enjoy the connection that the camera brings me to other people. I was that kid who made faces when my parents tried to take a photo of me (still do!), so I understand having camera shy kids.
let’s make creative magic
– I could live on cheese. And coffee (not black though!). I kinda am a foodie. Ask me about food recommendations, I have a bunch!
– I love love love love travel and new experiences, and I’ve lived all over the world and have tried (not very successfully) to learn four other languages besides english.
– I want to do everything. All the time. Ask me my goal? I’ll give you twenty (they’ll at least be prioritized). But when it comes down to it, I love watching good TV at the end of the day (with or without a guilt trip – yep, I can be hard on myself!)
– One of those goals is to stop mindlessly scrolling social media. I see so much judgement and people being mean to each other (it especially bothers me when I see moms doing it to other moms) instead of understand and celebrating our differences and different choices we make.
– Animals make life better!
– I come across as quiet and shy but I am anything but serious, and once you get to know me I really like to talk.
– I listen to 8,652 podcasts. OK not that many, but, I love learning and self growth and right now, spending a ton of time in my car driving around the island, audiobooks and podcasts are the easiest ways to do that!
– I am passionate about the environment and trying to preserve it for our kids and our kids kids and I even got a masters in environmental management.
– Being an outdoors and travel lover, I photograph landscapes and travel a ton, as well! You can checkout some of that work here.
